PCO:

The Parent Community Organization is a voluntary organization made up of parents and staff at The Woodlands Preparatory School whose purpose is to support the School through its social, educational and fund raising events. Below, you will find a listing of the types of activities available to you through the PCO.

Volunteers: It is common throughout most private and public schools in the U.S. that parents volunteer in many facets of school life. Parents are needed to help with special events as well as many opportunities on a regular basis. Following is a list of the many ways that you can become involved in your children’s education.

Room Parents: There are usually 1-2 room parents per class who liaise with the teacher to co-ordinate with other willing class parent volunteers to assist on field trips, school parties, welcome new families into the class and communicate any information to parents.

Gala & Auction: This annual event consists of a formal dinner, dance and auction or family dinner. The auction includes items donated by companies or individuals and sold to the highest bidder at the gala. Different grades might be asked to put together an auction item; art projects, baskets from the grade etc. This event is organized by the PCO with the help of a staff member from the school. The money that is made goes towards school improvement items such as playground equipment, computers, and library books.

Booster Club: The Booster Club is made up of individuals and businesses that support the athletic programs at The Woodlands Preparatory School.

Yearbook: The yearbook is produced by a committee made up of both teachers and students and is available at the end of the school year. It contains individual photographs of all students as well as candid shots of students involved in school life here at The Woodlands Preparatory School.

School Improvement Team: The Woodlands Preparatory School is committed to continuous school improvement. To accomplish this goal, we have a diverse team of teachers, administrators, and parents who work together for the improvement of our school. Our School Improvement Team meets the first Wednesday of each month.
