History of The Woodlands Preparatory School
The Woodlands Preparatory School
was founded in 2000 as a
College
Preparatory
Day School. Beginning with just Kindergarten
through third grade, the school added grades four through six in its
second year. From that point forward, The Woodlands Preparatory School
has added one grade each year, to reach its current kindergarten through
twelfth grade status. The Woodlands Preparatory School is pleased to announce
it will graduate its first senior class in May 2008.
The Woodlands Preparatory School
is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
(SACS), and is also a candidate International Baccalaureate (IB) school
and a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).
Designed to complement our advanced educational program, a new
facility was opened in 2002, which is located on an 18 acre campus just
outside The Woodlands. This state-of-the-art facility features spacious
classrooms, each equipped with televisions, LCD projectors and tablet
personal computers. The facility features three modern science labs, two
full-sized, fully equipped gymnasiums and two college-style Lecture
Halls. These facilities allow every student many opportunities to
participate in athletic and academic events. Adjacent to the building is
a world-class observatory, regulation soccer field, large playground and
covered picnic area.
